First Line

Therapy

Nitrofurantoin MR 100mg PO 12 hourly (AVOID >34 weeks into pregnancy)

or

Trimethoprim 200mg PO 12 hourly (AVOID <14 weeks into pregnancy)

Notes:

Second Line

Therapy

Cefalexin 500mg PO 12 hourly

or

Amoxicillin 500mg PO 8 hourly (only if confirmed sensitive on culture)

Notes:

Third Line

Therapy

Cefuroxime 250mg PO 12 hourly (if reported sensitive on culture and no other antibiotic option available)
