Mild-moderate HAP

Therapy

Doxycycline 200mg PO stat then 100mg daily

or

Co-trimoxazole 960mg PO/IV 12 hourly

Notes:

Treatment duration: 5 days

Severe HAP or deterioration despite first line therapy or VAP

Therapy

Piperacillin-Tazobactam (Tazocin) 4.5g IV 6 hourly

 

Penicillin allergy:

Levofloxacin 500mg PO/IV 12 hourly

Notes:

Treatment duration: 5 days (may require longer guided by clinical response)
