Antibiotic Therapy - (First line)

Flucloxacillin PO

Consider IV route if clinically unwell

Mild intolerance or mild skin reaction

Cefalexin PO 

Consider IV route if clinically unwell

Notes:

Anaphylaxis (including severe skin reaction) to penicillin / cephalosporins - (Penicillin allergy)

Clarithromycin PO

Most balanitis is not bacterial. Consider topical hydrocortisone 1% OD for 14 days and analgesia.

If suspected or confirmed fungal infection, prescribe imidazole cream for 14 days.
