South Glasgow Psychiatry Activities
During your time in psychiatry alongside shadowing your consultants timetable, you should aim to cover the following:-
- Spend the morning with the liaison psychiatry team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Contact liaison psychiatry via switchboard
- ECT
- Shadow Leverndale duty doctor
- Kershaw Unit addictions in-patient
- Contact duty doctor at Kershaw Unit, Gartnavel
- Take a history/clerk an in-patient
- Carry out at least 1 full cognitive assessment on the old age wards
- Contact: Beith, Banf & Balmore wards, Leverndale
- Desk duty worker CMHT
- Spend the day (any day) with the CMHT desk duty worker
- Aim to have at least 1 home visit with members from each discipline of the MDT
- Contact workers at the CMHT
- You should spend as much time as possible on the acute adult wards taking patient histories and carrying out mental state examinations
