Infectious diarrhoea

CKS: Gastroenteritis

Refer previously healthy children with acute painful or bloody diarrhoea to exclude E. coli 0157 infection.

Antibiotic therapy usually not indicated unless systemically unwell. If systemically unwell and campylobacter suspected send stool for culture and seek advice.
