NHSL Antimicrobial Guidelines
NHS Lanarkshire

First line: analgesia for pain relief and apply localised heat (such as a warm flannel).

Second line: Topical acetic acid 1 spray 3 times a day 7 days (only if over 12) OR

Topical neomycin sulphate with corticosteroid 3 drops 3 times a day 7-14 days (similar cure at 7 days)

 

If cellulitis/disease extending outside ear canal, refer urgently to ENT.
