All pupils
All pupils have a role to play in keeping the school safe for those with allergies.
From an early age, pupils can learn how to protect others from allergic reactions, for example:
Wash hands after touching food |
|
Tell a member of staff if a friend is ill |
|
Don't share food | |
Take allergies seriously and know they can be life threatening |
|
Recognise symptoms of allergic reactions and respond quickly |
Pupils in secondary schools should be taught to use an adrenaline autoinjector as part of first aid training. Pupils can suggest that this be offered to them as part of the curriculum by speaking to teachers or the senior management team.
