- malabsorption
- phosphate deficiency
- liver disease
- renal disease
- anticonvulsant therapy
- hypophosphataemic rickets
- hypo and pseudohypoparathyroidism
- Vitamin D dependent rickets (types I & II)
- renal tubular tisorders
- tumour-induced.
(Vitamin D deficiency may be confused with skeletal dysplasia).
